One of my roommates does athlete training and I have enlisted him to spearhead Operation Make Josh Attractive (OMJA).

He outlined a meal plan for me. I am allowed to have three servings per meal: breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and one serving for each snack: morning and afternoon. I am allowed one “cheat” meal per week, and am supposed to drink 60-80 oz of water per day.

Exercise

He also plans my daily exercises: Monday through Friday. I have no idea what we are doing until he tells me.

Week 0

The initial weigh-in was on Sunday, March 14, around 10 PM. I weighed in at 405.6 lbs, lower than the highest I know I have reached at 414 lbs.

Week 1

Food

My meals for the workweek were basically the same:

  • Breakfast
    • 1 Serving of Total
    • 3/4 Cup of Milk
    • 1 piece of fruit (2 bananas, 1 apple, and 1 orange)
  • Morning Snack
    • Rice Cake
  • Lunch
    • Sandwich
      • 2 Pieces of Wheat, Toasted
      • 1-1/2 Slices of Turkey
      • 2 Slices of Ham
      • 1 Piece of Pepperjack Cheese
    • 15 Sunchips
    • 1 Cup of Iced Tea
  • Dinner
    • Meat
      • Marinated in KC Masterpiece Garlic and Herb
      • Boneless Chicken Breast (3 Nights)
      • Boneless Sirloin Pork Chops (2 Nights)
    • Vegetable
      • Green Beans (3-1/2 Nights)
      • Hominy (1-1/2 Nights)

The only deviance was on Thursday, where the engineering group went out to Rib Crib. I had the Crispy Chicken Salad. When eating a salad, I am supposed to dip my fork in the dressing and then take a bite of salad. With this method, I used less than a spoonful of ranch with my entire salad! I tried to avoid the fried tortilla strips (Rib Cribs tastier alternative to the crouton), but couldn't resist eating a few; the bowl was still covered in them when I was finished though.

There was a small change with Saturday's meals because I went to a friend's house for dinner:

  • Dinner
  • 2 Grilled Pork Ribs
  • Frozen Green Beans
  • 1 Cup of Iced Tea

Sunday was my cheat meal day. Because Sunday School was canceled, I ate breakfast late and missed my morning snack. For lunch a group from church went to Agave. I ate a lot of chips, white queso, and salsa. I ordered the Pollo al Queso with no beans. I then went to my grandma's 80th birthday party and had a piece of chocolate frosted yellow cake and no-sugar added vanilla ice cream. I was so full by the end of the day, I substituted my dinner with an apple.

Exercise

My exercises for the week were as follows:

  • Monday
    • 20 minutes of fast walking with 2, 1-minute rests
  • Tuesday
    • 3 Sets of 5 (1-minute rests between):
      • Walk up and down stairs, followed by
      • 3 squats using the big red ball, followed by
      • 3 of these pelvic thrust things
  • Wednesday
    • Same as Monday
  • Thursday
    • Toned down version of Tuesday:
      • Walk halfway up and down stairs, followed by
      • 1 squat using the big red ball, followed by
      • 1 of these pelvic thrust things
  • Friday
    • Same as Monday

Each exercise was followed by some miscellaneous torturesstretches. The walking didn't cause me much pain the next day, but the squats were practically killing me the next few days. I could barely sit down and get up for three days!

Results

We had out official weigh in on Sunday, March 21st, around 9 AM. My weight was 383.8 lbs, which is over 20 lbs in only one week.
